He is my new Hand
A conversation between Cersei Lannister - The Queen and Qyburn - Her Hand after Cersei had blown the Great Sept of Baelor.
Cersei: How have the people reacted to the blowing of the Sept?
Whether truly Cersei Lannister is interested in the interests of the people, Qyburn thought before replying, Her Grace.
Qyburn: Your Grace, the people of King's Landing have come to believe that the Queen is grieving for the loss of her son Tommen and that the Tyrell Lady Olenna is behind the blow up of the Sept rather than seeing her disgraced children take the walk of shame. The Mountain had been of great use in installing fear among those who speak ill against the Queen.
Cersei: Good.
Qyburn: House Frey is eradicated, Your Grace. The North has united once again by proclaiming Jon Snow as King in The North.
Cersei: Who killed the Freys?
Qyburn: Brotherhood without Banners could be. The Northerners are always loyal to the Starks, Your Grace.
Cersei: Jon Snow is a bastard. My father bought the Boltons and the Freys. See if we can buy the other Northern houses.
Qyburn: Your Grace, the Boltons and the Freys were the only ones that could be bought. The Vale has gone to Petyr Baelish who has turned against the crown by marrying Sansa Stark to Ramsay Bolton and thereafter aiding Sansa Stark and Jon Snow to take the North.
Cersei: The Northern Lords will not march south during winter. Their armies will prefer to stay in the fireplaces in their homes along with their families. We must deal with the Targaryen bitch first.
Qyburn: Varys would have brought the Dorne and Tyrell armies to their side. Tyrion would take Casterly Rock before hitting King's Landing if he intends to put an end to House Lannister which I believe he dearly wants. They have the Tyrell gold, Dorne Snakes, Unsullied, Dothraki, Dragons and if Jon Snow joins them then they would have the North as well.
Cersei: My father thought that he was a smart man. He told me that I was not as smart as I think I`m. He failed to see that Tyrion loves his whores and would take up arms to protect his whores. He planned to marry me to the Tyrells to get their gold. He knew that I loved Jaime but chose to act like he never knew. My father taught me an important lesson that day. He taught me if the world turns against us and we are surrounded by enemies then friend your most profitable enemy by making them believe that by supporting us they could rule the world and then take on all your enemies one by one.
Qyburn: I see why you have allied with Euron Greyjoy. Indeed, a wise way to deal with enemies, Your Grace.
A conversation between Daenerys Targaryen - The Queen and Tyrion Lannister - Her Hand after losing the Dorne army, Tyrell gold and Casterly Rock to Cersei Lannister.
Daenerys: The entire north is backing the Starks out of loyalty. The entire south is destroyed and the only ones remaining support the Lannisters out of fear. The math favoured me. I had the numbers and I still do yet I lost because of you. You want to know why I chose you as my hand? I chose you because of your insight, because you had done actual ruling in King’s Landing, you chose your loved ones without categorising them and you killed your father.
Tyrion: Aye, I killed my father and chose my love over everything. I loved her and when she called me to go with her to Volantis and settle there and start a new life I realised that my true love was ruling. And, when my father sentenced me to die, I realised that I had to stay alive and staying alive was my true love. I love myself more than anything in this world. People call me a dwarf but if I give up on myself I’m a nobody. I would be dead already. If you want to rule you must find a way to stay alive whatever the odds be.
Daenerys: So, you say that you killed your father because you wanted to stay alive and rule?
Tyrion: He sentenced me to die and slept with my lover. I had no other choice.
Daenerys: You and me, we have one thing in common. We both talk and make things go our way and succeed at it. We both believe in ourselves and love ourselves and succeed. When my brother Viserys sold me to the Dothraki I knew that he never cared about me. All he wanted was to become King without knowing what it means to be one. I loved Viserys but when Khal Drogo killed him I never felt bad. I knew he deserved it. It was a horrible death yet I did not stop his killed. I knew that I had to rule and not Viserys. I knew that I was the dragon.
Tyrion: I knew dragons existed. We have the skulls of the last dragons in the cellars of Red Keep. I have read about them. The things beyond the Wall, that I couldn't believe. The Northerners are a superstitious people and so are the Northern maesters.
Daenerys: If Jon Snow gets the dead as he claims would your sister believe us?
Tyrion: Cersei has one awning quality. She hides her beliefs as disbeliefs. She is very particular about her enemies knowing what she is afraid of. She would be very much afraid of the dragons and she would have made Qyburn find multiple ways to get them killed. She is one frightened woman who acts like a man when afraid. She would believe in the Night Walkers after seeing them and would make ways on her own to kill them.
